"Relaxed, Calm Action"
With a heavy Heart I announce the passing of Ota Sensei (Steve Ota)
A good friend for over 45 years and fellow traveler on this Ki Aikido path.
A gallant struggle with lung cancer and peace at last.
Small "live" classes can be organized by senior members as long as protocols are observed. Sensei is available at various times and days to assist.

Oct 3rd "Live" class was cancelled due to high AQI.

Folding mats (6' x 12') are available for loan or sale
They fold to 6'x2'x1'. We will be using at least one of these in our Saturday "Live @ Memorial Park" classes for those who want to throw and/or fall. Remember, masks, wash hands and do not interact when symptomatic.
It also would be helpful , if in doubt, to takes ones temperature before attending.

What a great sat "live" class in the Park!
A good combination of members and new students. We will continue to hold these "live in the park weapons classes" on Saturdays at 1-2pm with extra practice for those members who want it as well. Live class will be cancelled when AQI is over 100.

Greetings all.
Close to 1/2 year of social distancing. Our zoom classes are going well and are even addressing some issues which were hard to see in live practice. Albany recreation is attempting to offer some outdoor live classes and we are going to test the waters with a Saturday afternoon Jo/Bokken class at Memorial Park. 1 - 2PM . This is in addition to the zoom Saturday morning class. All members are welcome to join/assist this class but it will be a very basic weapons handling and Jo 1 /Bokken 1 affair.
I would like to again thank all of our members for their continued support.

Greetings.
Well, we are going into the 5th month of “Shelter in Place”.
Zoom classes are going well and , I would say, are addressing some basic issues which we do not usually get to address in “normal” classes.
I would like to thank all of you for supporting our programs and ask for your continued support. Many of you are subscribers’ , others offer timely monthly donations, others occasional donations, as you are able. Still others may not be able to support financially but do so by attending zoom classes or just by spreading the theories of Soshu.

Hope all are doing well in this crazy uncertain time.
Although it has been suggested (and implemented) that our programs experiment with gradual in person , social distanced, outdoors group classes ……….it is too soon (for me) and we do have our zoom classes. I am advising HQ of the same. It is too easy to fall back into old ways of instruction. When placed in very familiar circumstances like class or visiting extended family it is often too easy to forget protocols and at present not worth the risk.
Check the this web site www.kiaikido.org for supplemental instructional aids and updates.
stay healthy and positive ki,
sensei
as promised:
1-note the jo. While a very dynamic throw ( and fun to boot!) this is an obvious sign of collision.
2- full commitment to attack
3- horizontal ikkyo tenkan
